Burns' Supper held on 13 February 2004

The Lodge held its Annual Burns' Supper on Friday the Thirteenth. As usual, this was an most enjoyable and entertaining evening with the Masonic Hall filled to capacity by an appreciative and attentive audience of brethren and friends. The evening started with the Haggis being piped in, then Addressed followed by the Selkirk Grace. The meal was excellent with Haggis and Neeps, Soup, Steak Pie and Bannocks and Cheese. All of the speakers were well appreciated with an intelligent and informative Immortal Memory, a hilarious Toast to the Lassies, excellent 'readings' of Burns favourites, Tam O' Shanter, Holy Willie's Prayer and Death and Doctor Hornbook and beautiful renditions of his Songs, There was a Lad, Ae Fond Kiss, A Man's a Man, Mary Morrison and the Lass of Ballochmyle. The evening finished with the company singing The Star o' Rabbie Burns, Auld Lang Syne and God Save the Queen. A truly wonderful evening.

Scandal Cabaret Show on 5 March 2004

The show was once again a very successful social event for 919. The event was a sell-out. The band are excellent all round entertainers and worth every penny. After the cabaret was finished, the dance floor was full for every dance and all but a few stayed to the end. We will no doubt have Scandal back again in the future. Well done to the organisers Graham and Jacky Blades.

IPM Dance of  Friday 23 April 2004

The turnout was 46 which compared to recent dances was quite poor. However, the people who made the effort to turn up enjoyed a very good evening dancing to a band called  `Fascination ` an excellent two piece band who had been recommended by someone in the Lodge . Well done that brother ! .
In accordance with past tradition  RWM Bro Alan Thompson took the opportunity to thank IPM Bro Tom Paterson and Margaret for their continued good work during his year on the chair, and I am quite sure others who were not present would echo that sentiment. The dance ended in the usual manner by the people attending singing Auld Lang Syne & The National Anthem.

Annual Bowls Match with Cadder Freestone on 19 Sept 2004

Bro Robert Paterson Bowling Convener Provided the following report

Twenty four brethren from 919 and other lodges in the area attended the annual bowls outing this year to Lodge Cadder Freestone No 1584. We were duly welcomed and after a free refreshment, it was announced that due to weather conditions the bowling green was flooded and not playable.

It was decided that Carpet Bowls would be played in the club hall. The result of this was Robert King Stewart (11) Cadder Freestone ( 37).

We then sat down to a lovely meal and refreshments. Campbell Weir ( Bowling Convener of 1584) announced the results of the competition and introduced the guests of 1584, Mrs A Robertson, her daughter and son, on this occasion, to present the new cup in memory of her husband Alistair. The new Cup was presented by Mrs Robertson and accepted by Campbell Weir. She then presented the Runner up quaich to Robert Paterson of 919.

After the speeches by both conveners, the harmony started and everyone really enjoyed the singers. Mrs Robertson was asked to present the cup next year at New Stevenston which she accepted.

Thanks to both lodges and to all who attended and made the day one to remember for everyone.
